The Tanami Track is a shortcut between Halls Creek in the Kimberley and Alice Springs. We spend seven days exploring this region by mountain bike and four-wheel-drive.

OUTBACK, FLINDERS & VINEYARDS CYCLE TOUR - INCLUDES SIMPSON DESERT IN 2011!
Alice Springs, NT > Adelaide, SA

Cycle and 4WD through the best of the Outback, Flinders Ranges and Clare Valley wine region by bike. First, we head into the red sand-dune country of the Simpson Desert. Then onto the Outback of South Australia, vast and peppered with tiny outposts and the characters who inhabit them. We'll visit Coober Pedy, Oodnadatta and William Creek, taking in the famous Oodnadatta Track along the way. Marree is often called the 'Last Town' and it sits at the junction of the Oodnadatta and Birdsville Tracks. As we cycle closer to the majestic Flinders Ranges, memories of better times are found in little ghost towns now covered in sand. The Flinders Ranges are spectacular, and exploring by mountain bike allows you to get close to this amazing landscape. Through the Flinders, as we head further south the country begins to green up a little, and before you know it, we'll be amongst the tall eucalypts and rows of vineyards of the Clare Valley. The Riesling Trail is a purpose-built cycleway that meanders through the wineries and you'll be spoilt for choice.
